What Split PDF does
Split PDF takes one PDF and writes smaller PDF files from its pages. It does not collect scattered pages into a single new PDF. The numbers you type are physical pages, starting at 1, in the order the pages appear.
Three ways to split
- Every page makes one PDF per page. It is offered when that would not create more than 40 files.
- Every few pages groups the document. A 10-page PDF with 4 pages per file becomes 1–4, 5–8, and 9–10.
- Custom ranges: each row is one PDF. A row can be a span such as 1-3 or a single page such as 5.
How you get the files
One output downloads as a PDF. Two or more outputs are packed into one ZIP named pdfzaro-split.zip. The archive stores the PDFs as they are. It does not compress them again. The download starts when you choose it.
Privacy
Splitting happens in this browser. The PDF is not uploaded to PDFZaro. The page loads its scripts and the split engine from this site. That traffic is the program, not your document. The file name and the text inside the PDF are not sent to analytics.
Safety guards
The tool stops above 40 MB, above 150 pages, or when the split would create more than 40 files. These ceilings keep a tab from starting an unbounded job. They are not a statement that every device can open a 40 MB or 150-page PDF. If a split would pass 40 files, nothing is created. Use more pages per file, or fewer ranges.
What splitting does not promise
- Pages are copied as PDF pages. They are not turned into images, and this tool does not recompress pictures.
- A bookmark that pointed at a removed page can remain without a working destination. PDFZaro does not rebuild the outline.
- A link to another page inside the file can remain even when that page is gone.
- Printed page labels in the PDF are not the numbers you type, and they are not promised to stay the same.
- Tagged structure is not repaired, and this tool does not claim the result stays accessible in the same way.
- A file attached to the document may be copied into a piece. PDFZaro does not open attachments.
- A document script may remain in a piece. PDFZaro does not run it.
- A digital signature stops the split. Splitting rewrites the file, so an original signature would not remain valid.
- An archival PDF/A claim is not checked by a validator, and splitting can drop the marker. The result is not described as PDF/A.
- Form fields on pages you keep can remain, including their values. That is not a promise for every form.
Questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. The split runs in your browser. The site does not receive the file bytes, the file name, or the text inside the PDF.
Can I pull pages 1, 3, and 5 into one PDF?
No. Each row is its own file, and a row is one page or one continuous span. A selection of separate pages in one file is a different tool.
Why is every page unavailable?
That choice would create more than 40 files. The ceiling is a safety guard. Use a larger number of pages per file.
What if the file is signed or password-protected?
A detected signature stops the split. A password-protected file is rejected. There is no password prompt and no repair step.
